Florida Court Records

The Florida State Courts website is designed to help provide information about the State of Florida's court system and how the public may access case records from its two trial courts and two appellate courts.

Florida's County Courts, the state's trial courts of limited jurisdiction, preside over minor criminal matters and civil disputes. Meanwhile, the Circuit Courts, the state's trial courts of general jurisdiction, have authority over felonies and major civil cases. The District Courts of Appeal hear most appeals from trial court cases and other matters within their jurisdiction. The Supreme Court in Tallahassee is the final arbiter of state law.

The Florida Public Records Act grants citizens and residents the general right to access records held by state and local government agencies. At the same time, the Rules of General Practice and Judicial Administration extend this right of access to judicial documents. Specific court files may remain out of public view for privacy or other legitimate reasons. Florida Court Records is not a replacement for official state records. The content is solely for informational purposes.
